What “GAF Master Elite” Means for Your Roof

If you’ve been collecting roofing estimates, you’ve probably seen the words “GAF Master Elite” on a truck, a yard sign or a quote. Here’s what that label means and why it should matter to you as a homeowner.

It’s a certification from the shingle manufacturer

GAF is one of the largest roofing manufacturers in North America. Master Elite is the top tier of its contractor program, and fewer than 2% of roofing contractors in North America hold it. Blue Line Remodeling & Construction is one of them.

It changes the warranty you can get

As GAF Master Elite certified roofers, we use GAF products from top to bottom. Because of that, we can offer the full line of GAF products backed by a GAF warranty, including the Golden Pledge warranty. With Golden Pledge, the workmanship on your shingles is covered for 20 to 30 years, depending on the shingles you choose.

Why workmanship coverage matters

Most roof problems in the first years come from how the roof was installed, not from the shingles themselves. A warranty that covers only materials leaves that gap open. One that covers workmanship, and is backed by the manufacturer, doesn’t depend on any single contractor still being around decades from now.

Questions worth asking any roofer

  • Are you certified by the manufacturer whose shingles you install?

  • Does the warranty cover workmanship, or materials only?

  • Who backs the warranty: you, or the manufacturer?

  • Are you licensed and insured in Michigan?

We’re happy to answer all four, because honesty is our policy. We’re a small, Portage-based company, and we’ve been making houses into homes across Southwestern Michigan since 2006. Roof inspections and estimates are always free. Call (269) 329-2920 or request an estimate through our contact page.
